Database Wisdom: Postgres

You can currently get three variations of Postgres. PostgreSQL.org offers the standard distribituon, free for download. EnterpiseDB offers two solutions, Postgres Plus and Postgres Plus Advanced Server.

The current release of Postgres is 8.3. Unless you are running a distributed system that requires a different version, or you have an application that con only connect to an older version, there is no reason to use or install an older version.
